THE DIFFERENCE IS IN THE DETAILS

Four things that separate a licensed master electrician from the guy on Craigslist.

01
Code Compliance Experts

We know the 2023 NEC and Arizona-specific amendments cold. Every installation passes inspection the first time — no return trips, no reinspection fees.

02
Same-Day Availability

Electrical problems don't wait for Monday. We offer same-day service on most jobs, and 24/7 emergency response for situations that can't wait.

03
Flat-Rate Pricing

You get a written estimate before we start. No hourly surprises, no "we found more problems" upsells. The price we quote is the price you pay.

04
Permit Pulling

We pull permits on every qualifying job. Period. It protects your homeowner's insurance, your resale value, and your family's safety.

BUILT TO LAST, INSTALLED TO CODE

Every panel upgrade includes a full load calculation, new breakers, and a final inspection sign-off from the city.
EV charger installs are done with dedicated circuits, proper wire gauge, and a permit — so your charger is covered by your home warranty.
Commercial work is quoted with detailed scope, phased scheduling, and minimal disruption to your business operations.
All technicians are background-checked, drug-tested, and carry their trade cards on every job.

Electrical Panel Upgrades

The average Phoenix home built before 2000 has a 100-amp panel — which is undersized for modern loads. Adding an EV charger, a hot tub, or even a new HVAC system can push an old panel to its limits. We upgrade panels to 200A and beyond, with proper load calculations and APS/SRP coordination.

All panel work includes a city permit, rough-in inspection, and final inspection sign-off. Your homeowner's insurance requires permitted work — we handle all of it.

What's Included
  • Load calculation per NEC 220
  • 100A → 200A or 200A → 400A service upgrade
  • EV-ready panel options (SPAN, Square D, Siemens)
  • APS/SRP utility coordination
  • City permit + final inspection
  • New main breaker and branch breakers

Typical range: $1,800 – $4,200 depending on service size, meter location, and existing wiring condition. Written estimate provided before work begins.

Wiring work
Service 02

Home Rewiring

Knob-and-tube wiring, aluminum wiring, and old cloth-sheathed wiring are fire hazards — and most insurers will not cover a home with these systems. We specialize in systematic rewires that modernize your home's electrical while minimizing drywall damage.

Our rewire process uses low-impact fishing techniques and patch repair coordination. We don't just pull wire — we leave your home clean.

What's Included
  • Knob-and-tube replacement
  • Aluminum wiring remediation (COPALUM or pigtailing)
  • Full home rewires with minimal drywall intrusion
  • AFCI protection throughout (2023 NEC compliant)
  • Updated outlets to 3-wire grounded
  • Permit + inspection

Typical range: $8,000 – $25,000+ depending on home size and existing conditions.

EV charger
Service 03

EV Charger Installation

Level 2 EV charger installation adds a dedicated 240V/50A circuit from your panel to your garage, giving you 25–40 miles of range per hour of charging. We're certified installers for Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint Home Flex, Grizzl-E, and Emporia.

We pull the permit, coordinate the inspection, and register your charger for any applicable APS/SRP rebates. Arizona utility rebates can offset $200–$500 of installation cost.

What's Included
  • Dedicated 240V/50A circuit
  • Tesla, ChargePoint, Grizzl-E, Emporia installation
  • Panel capacity review + load calc
  • City permit + inspection
  • APS/SRP rebate paperwork assistance
  • Outdoor weatherproof installation available

Typical range: $650 – $1,400 installed with permit. Additional cost if panel upgrade is needed.

Lighting fixtures
Service 04

Lighting & Fixtures

From recessed lighting retrofits to full outdoor landscape systems, we handle all residential lighting work. Our team runs new circuits where needed, patches drywall cleanly, and leaves your home looking better than we found it.

What's Included
  • Recessed LED retrofits and new can lights
  • Ceiling fan installation (with or without existing wiring)
  • Outdoor and landscape lighting systems
  • Under-cabinet lighting
  • Dimmer switch and smart switch installation
  • Bathroom exhaust fan replacement

Recessed lights from $85/can installed. Ceiling fans from $150 installed. Written estimate for larger projects.

Outlets and switches
Service 05

Outlet & Switch Upgrades

Two-prong ungrounded outlets, missing GFCI protection in wet areas, and old push-wire switches are code violations that your insurance company takes seriously. We update your outlets systematically — or spot-replace as needed.

What's Included
  • GFCI outlets (kitchen, bath, garage, exterior)
  • AFCI breaker installation for bedroom circuits
  • USB-A/USB-C combination outlets
  • 20A dedicated circuits for appliances
  • Dimmer and smart switch upgrades (Lutron, Leviton)
  • Whole-home outlet replacement

GFCI outlet from $75 installed. Call for whole-home pricing.

Smoke detector safety
Service 06

Smoke & CO Detector Systems

Arizona requires hardwired, interconnected smoke detectors in all new construction and major renovation. We install compliant systems throughout your home — when one goes off, they all go off.

What's Included
  • Hardwired interconnected smoke detectors
  • Combination smoke/CO units available
  • Battery backup on all units
  • Placement per NFPA 72 code requirements
  • 10-year sealed battery options

Smoke detector systems starting at $95/unit installed (hardwired).

Electrical inspection
Service 07

Electrical Inspections

Buying a home? Renovating? Selling? A licensed electrical inspection from Spark provides a written report of all deficiencies, code violations, and safety hazards — written in plain language, not electrician jargon.

What's Included
  • Pre-purchase / pre-sale electrical inspection
  • Renovation safety audit before opening walls
  • Insurance-required inspection documentation
  • Written deficiency report with photo documentation
  • Priority repair recommendations with cost estimates

Residential inspection: $295 for homes up to 2,500 sq ft. Larger homes quoted individually.

All work performed by Spark Electrical LLC is permit-pulled and city-inspected on every qualifying project. This protects your homeowner's insurance, your property's resale value, and your family.

RESIDENTIAL FAQ

Do I really need a permit for a panel upgrade? +
Yes — unequivocally. In Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, and every other Maricopa County jurisdiction, electrical panel work requires a permit. If a contractor tells you it doesn't, walk away. Unpermitted panel work voids your homeowner's insurance coverage for electrical fires and makes your home nearly impossible to sell without costly remediation.
How long does a panel upgrade take? +
Most 200A panel upgrades take 4–6 hours for the physical installation. You'll be without power for 2–3 hours during the work. The permit process adds 1–3 business days for city scheduling, though we handle all permit paperwork for you.
Can you add an EV charger to my existing panel? +
Usually yes — if your panel has capacity. We assess your current load before recommending installation. If your panel is full or undersized, we'll let you know upfront and can combine the panel upgrade and EV charger installation into a single project visit.
What's the difference between knob-and-tube and aluminum wiring? +
Knob-and-tube is 1900s-era wiring that lacks a ground wire and has deteriorated insulation. Aluminum wiring was installed in the 1960s–70s as a copper substitute; it expands and contracts differently than copper and can loosen at connections over time. Both present fire risks and most insurers will not cover homes with either system without documentation of remediation.
Do you offer free estimates? +
Yes. We provide written, flat-rate estimates at no charge for all residential projects. We'll assess the job, explain what needs to be done and why, and give you a firm price before we start. No "we'll see how it goes" hourly billing on standard jobs.

HOW TO VERIFY OUR LICENSE

We encourage every homeowner and business owner to verify contractor licenses before hiring. Arizona makes this easy through the ROC's public license lookup tool. Here's how:

  1. Go to roc.az.gov and click "Verify a License"
  2. Enter license number 123456 in the search field
  3. Confirm the license is classified as C-11 (Electrical) and shows as Active
  4. Verify the business name matches Spark Electrical LLC
  5. Check the complaint history — ours is clean
CONTINUING EDUCATION

Arizona requires all licensed electrical contractors to complete 8 hours of continuing education annually to maintain their license. Our master electrician and all licensed journeymen complete this requirement every year — including code update training when the NEC is revised.

We also invest in voluntary training: our team has completed OSHA 10, Arc Flash Safety (NFPA 70E), and EV Charger Installation certification through EVITP (Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program).

WHY PERMITS MATTER TO YOU

We pull permits on every qualifying job. This is non-negotiable — not because we're required to offer it as an option, but because unpermitted electrical work creates real risks for property owners:

Insurance: Most homeowner's insurance policies specifically exclude damage caused by unpermitted electrical work. If an unlicensed electrician's work causes a fire, your claim may be denied entirely.

Resale: When you sell your home, the buyer's inspector will flag unpermitted panel work. You'll either need to pull a permit retroactively (expensive and complicated) or disclose it and reduce your sale price.

Safety: Permitted work is inspected by a city electrical inspector who has no financial interest in approving it. This independent check catches mistakes before your walls close up.

THE COST OF HIRING UNLICENSED

According to the Arizona ROC, more than 30% of contractor complaints filed in Arizona involve unlicensed contractors. Common outcomes reported by homeowners who hired unlicensed electricians:

  • Insurance claim denied after an electrical fire
  • Required to remove and redo all unpermitted work before home sale
  • Failed city inspection requiring full re-inspection and correction
  • No recourse when the contractor disappears mid-job
